Today we put the names in a hat (ok it was a Dixie bowl) and drew a winner! And that winner is Jessica S. Congratulations!!!

Politically Savvy: Representing a Potential Representative Online

by Darren Burgfeld | E74 Project Manager 6. March 2012 09:08

Darren Burgfeld

Holly Rehder is an independent small business owner from Sikeston, MO who is running on the Republican ticket for State Representative in the 148th district. As she began her campaign, she already knew that the internet was a key campaigning tool, and wanted to make the most of her presence.

Holly Rehder Website

When we were first approached by Holly Rehder to create her online campaign presence, we knew right away that this site would have to be something special. Why? Because Holly wanted it to represent more than just a political campaign: She wanted it to be an extension of herself, personally.

“As someone who is running for a public office, it is extremely important to me that my website not only detail my positions, but actually reflect my personality and beliefs,” Holly told us. “I felt very confident in Element 74 after our first meeting.  Chris asked me many questions to make certain he understood my goals and desires and then assigned the project manager, Darren Burgfeld, who he thought would work best with me in accomplishing these goals.”

Holly’s strong beliefs and personality had to shine, and so we designed a website that provides visitors with a clear picture of Holly’s stand on several political issues, as written in her own words. The “Issues” page on the website gives an easy-to-use light box interface to read Holly’s words on subjects like education, energy and healthcare. A photo gallery allows Holly to share her continuing adventures in the campaign process. And, of course, social media links to Facebook and Twitter help her constituents keep in touch with the latest news.

“I wanted to be a part of the website building process and Darren allowed me to do just that.  Revisions, tweaks and changes were never frowned upon; in fact he would add to my suggestions and/or ideas!” said Holly.

Holly said that after the dust settled, the “final product is certainly all that I envisioned and more. We launched the website and the response from the public has been overwhelmingly positive.

“I didn’t want a canned political site; I wanted it to be real and down to earth,” she said. “Some of my family and close friends have made comments about the site being very ‘me’ and that is exactly what I had hoped for.  One of my colleagues has even mentioned that after seeing my website, he contacted his web designer and has asked for a little more ‘pizzazz!’”

Working with Holly was easy from the get go, as she made herself very accessible and quickly responded to emails and phone calls as they came. We’re glad she felt the same way about us.

“It has been such a refreshing experience working with Element74, a company that doesn't overlook any minor details,” Holly said. “Whenever I have questions it’s as easy as shooting an email or making a phone call.  I always get a rapid and thorough response.  Element 74 is top notch!”
